This is a brief review of Quick Gun Murugan, I say. Mind it!
If you remember the character Quick Gun Murugan from the mid-90s, then you can relate very easily to this movie. If not, don't worry. As long as you can accept a few stereotypes (racial, lingual and movie formulae) and further accept that these stereos can be typed some more, then you will easily accept the movie.
This movie is about how Quick Gun Murugan takes on the might of Rice Plate Reddy, who is pushing his agenda of making the entire world eat non-veg. There are an assortment of characters who appear in the movie and the following really stand out in my opinion:
1. QGM of course. Played by Dr.Rajendra Prasad.
2. Rice Plate Reddy. Played by Nasser.
3. MBA Rowdy. Played by Raju Sundaram.
4. QGM's anna and anni.
5. To a limited extent, Mango Dolly played by Rambha was also good.
6. Gunpowder. Played by Shanmugasundaram.
The movie has many funny moments. But the best scene for me was when QGM and MBA Rowdy face off. Other scenes I liked include the one at the end, where QGM does manage to get few minor bleeding cuts and Mango Dolly starts shredding off pieces of her clothes to bandage the wound. Then there is the "duet song" between QGM and his Locket Lover. Or the way the henchman Gunpowder spells Bullet as "Bew-yell-yell-aiy-tea". And how can I forget the scene at the "Institute of Coconut Tree Climbing"!!!
The one big stereotype that this movie didn't have was a 2 hour plus running time.
Please go ahead and watch this movie. You will certainly not regret it.
P.S.: There is one thing I fear though. All the stunts done by QGM are clearly meant to be funny. Unfortunately, the leading men in Tamizh and Telugu movies are going to use them as part of their routine fair. And even more unfortunately, the masses will lap it up.
