So many states want to break away from their parent state on grounds ranging from the type of language they speak to administrative inefficiency. Some of these demands may exist for many decades, but still, these are demands of creating a new identity within the nation.
Then there are so many political parties that are making their presence felt, primarily due to their son-of-the-soil policies.
There are few factions that want portions carved out from multiple states to form a new entity.
Some people even want states to be formed on the basis of the caste of the population!
And of course, we have the perennial problem in few states that want to break away from the nation itself.
The Government of India, in the last decade and more, has been formed by regional political parties. These parties have all come into existence pursuing any one of the items listed above.
If this trend of a coalition Government continues (I don't see anything else happening) for another decade, it would, at some point in time, be forced to accede to most of these requests.
I feel we would end up in a situation like in USSR where multiple Republics came under a single banner called USSR. And as recorded in history, USSR crumbled under its internal strife and economic issues to become multiple independent nations.
God forbid I live to experience the ignominy of having to take a visa to go from Chennai to Bangalore!
