That idiom/phrase can best describe my latest haircut. I had one yesterday, but this time it was at a barber shop (dunno if I can say that since the Salon and Beauty Parlors Association objected to the use of the word 'barber' in a movie title) that has opened up at a walking distance from my home.
My father and I went to this place and found that they charge the same rates as the old place we used to go to. And, the advantage here is that the shop is barely a 2-3 minute walk from home, whereas for the other one was some 3 Kms away.
And in terms of the end-result, I found no big difference. I said medium and still got a close haircut. But the kid who did the cutting was of the firm opinion that since my hair was curly ("உங்க hair ரொம்ப கர்லிங்கா இருக்கு சார்") I needed to keep cutting it close for a while so that it can stop curling so much and I could then start getting better cuts.
Irrespective of whether he actually thought that thing or was just fibbing around, I liked the fact that he was at least trying to sound like he was an expert in the business. In any case, the sheer proximity of this shop has sold itself to me and unless they give me some nasty nicks and cuts while they are at work on my head, this is going to be the shop that is going to be blamed by my admirers for giving me a bad hair cut.
