Shrek - The third part

If you visit this link you will be presented with a slew of adjectives listed under one word. Most of those, match my opinion of this movie.

Story - Simple and superb. Pretty much like the previous Shrek movies.
Animation - Stunning. Mind-blowing. Like one character said in a Tamizh movie many years ago "Technology has improved so much".... The attention to detail was especially praise worthy - like when they are on the ship, you could see ripples on the sea, the water was foaming at the hull of the boat (not sure if its hull, but the rear end of the ship is what I am getting at) and then Shrek, Donkey and Puss in Boots all have their hair and fabric moving to the breeze. It was so cool.
Music - Super cool.
Comedy - Ultimate. Donkey was very subdued in this edition compared to the previous two. Puss in Boots got a heavier role.
Characters - This one is practically like an All-Star meeting of the Fairy Tale World. Here again, the way Sleeping Beauty constantly went to sleep or when Snow White went singing and all the animals and birds started coming in (adapted from the Disney B&W classic) or when Pinocchio started talking like our Visu just to avoid telling the truth without having his nose elongated or when the Frog King says his last words - the over-acting (Sic) will put many an Indian thespian to shame, etc etc. The best though, was in the scene after Donkey and Puss get themselves interchanged and Donkey tries the droopy eyed look.

All in all it was a great movie. We watched it in the super suave 6 Degrees theatre at Satyam. The ambiance was very nice. Super seats, with padding even on the arm rest. Wide seats too.

BUT - there had to be one - there was this small group of nincompoops who were sitting in the first row and were behaving like true front-benchers right through the movie. So much of clapping and whistling. Cat calls too. I would in fact go to the extent of saying that there was more noise from this set of 4-6 guys, than when I watched Sivaji with my colleagues at Mayajal. Must have been an interesting experience for the 4 manja mandais who were sitting next to us.

But still, we came out with a real happy feeling of having watched a great movie. I wont mind watching it once more. :)

On an unrelated note, as an extension to Ramadurai's coincidence talk during our return home on Friday (which I've asked him to blog for me to respond), here is my bit:
The last movie I saw was Fantastic Four which was seen by the 4 of us (yours truly, Nilu, Raghu and wife) - 4 people for a movie with 4 in the title.
Today's movie was Shrek the Third - watched by 3 of us (yours truly, Raghu and wife) - 3 people for a movie with 3 in the title.
