I returned home early this evening around 4.30 PM.
It was quite a hectic trip, but a good one too.
Highlight of the trip was of course the visit to my family god temple. I even managed to catch hold of the priest (with help from a very helpful lady in the agrahaaram) and had an archanai performed there.
Other interesting things:
1. The sheer quantity of soda (panneer and lime) that I consumed - all at road-side shops - I haven't had these many in the last few years I think.
2. Quite a number of temple priests in the Tirunelveli and Madurai area know of my marital status (the lack of one rather).
3. Sanjana finally accepted me (before any of you take off on any tangent, she is the 4 year old daughter of my friends and this kid never used to talk to me before).
4. Not just the Air-hostesses of Indian (Indian Airlines) but even the people at the boarding pass counter, the Security guards, the baggage handlers, the coffee-tea vendors, my fellow passengers were all anything but impressive.
5. Tirunelveli express is used more by people bound for Madurai than T'veli.
6. You can actually get a suite room in some of the hotels in T'veli.
7. Not everyone in that area roams around with an aruvaa.
8. The "light music" troupes perform some dance routines as well.
9. Iruttu kadai is not actually that dark.
10. There are still "restaurants" where you have to dispose off the banana leaf (used by you for eating your pongal/vadai/rava dosai or other such food stuff) yourself.
11. Most of the Sri Lankan cricketers are quite short.
12. If you don't have a stick or an equivalent weapon on hand, don't try chasing monkeys.
13. Monkeys, especially those with babies, are camera-shy.
14. I still don't like Illayaraja's melody songs.
I can ramble on some more, but I will stop here. And I will probably use the next couple of posts as my tour chronicles.

"Sanjana finally accepted me". Somehow this is more unnerving than the knee-hugging doll that is there in my car.
